Who is this course designed for?
 
Individuals studying this qualification usually possess vocational competence in specific industry/technical areas and are looking to gain experience and specific skills to facilitate training and or assessment in these specific industry/technical areas. (In some instances candidates may be acquiring vocational competence concurrently with their Training and Assessment competence.)
 
TAE40110 is a broad qualification addressing performance of the following tasks in a Vocational Education and Training (VET) context:
 
·          Designing learning programs
·          Delivering learning in a variety of contexts
·          Planning, developing, conducting and validating assessments
 
Job roles associated with this qualification relate to the delivery of training and assessment of competence within the VET sector. Possible job titles and roles relevant to this qualification include:
 
·          Enterprise trainer
·          Enterprise assessor
·          Registered training organisation (RTO) trainer
·          RTO assessor
·          Training adviser or training needs analyst
·          Vocational education teacher
 
After achieving TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, candidates may undertake TAA50104 Diploma of Training and Assessment or may choose to undertake TAE70110 Vocational Graduate Certificate in Adult Language, Literacy and Numeracy Practice.

Course expectations
 
The Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40110) qualification relies that the learner is engaged in a training and education environment or has a vocational skill at a level that supports training and education in the subject area in which it is intended to teach.
 
Students will be assessed prior to enrolment to ensure their language, literacy and numeracy levels meet as a minimum the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF level 4). A person meeting level 4 means – higher level complexity in the English Language.  Level 4 - Key words: is able to explain complex information in a simplified language and using specifically chosen tone.
 
You must be able to demonstrate that:
·        You have vocational competence in a specific industry/technical areas
·        You have effective language, communication and interpersonal skills
·          You have effective writing skills relative to a business environment
·          You have written at least a two page report
·          You are able to plan and organise, read, research, interpret, analyse and synthesise information
·          You have access to a computer with a reliable internet connection
·          You know how to use computer technology to research and develop learning and assessment resources
·          You have a working knowledge of basic computer programs, such as word processor, internet browser, email
 
Course length
 
This course will be delivered over 18 day’s duration of part time study at 3 days per week (18 x 7.5hour days).  8 hours external learning is required per week from students (5 weeks x 8 hours). This will result in a total of 175 hours.
 
The Night course is delivered over 13 weeks at 6 hours per week (78 hours) with 7 hours external learning required per week from students (12 x 8 = 96). This will result in a total of 174 hours.
